Erica Rebollar was born in Madrid and has studied at Washington School of Ballet, SUNY Purchase College, and Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle. On scholarship, she completed her MFA in choreography at UCLA. Erica has danced in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Indonesia and Los Angeles where she performed her own works, collaborated with choreographers, and appeared in several performances. “Dance Magazine” awarded Erica the prestigious Choreographer of the Year award within the American Collage Dance Festival. Brigham Young University’s Dance Department commissioned her choreography for their Spring Concert as well as a tour throughout India. Her choreography was performed at Dance Moving Forward Festival, Electric Lodge Theatre; LA Dance Invitational, El Portal Theatre; and Summerfest, ODC Theatre. Rebollar teaches ballet, modern, and choreography at UCLA’s World Arts and Cultures department, DC Dance Collective, and San Pedro Ballet School.

Erica Rebollar has worked with First Journey Lab in Indonesia, Trip Dance Theater, Namah Ensemble, and numerous NYC choreographers such as Catherine Soloas, Nina Winthrop and Jack Kirven: Viscera Dance Theatre. In Seattle, she produced “East/West” at Seattle’s Chamber Theatre. In Los Angeles, she produced two full-length concerts of choreography: “Ajar” and “Flesh” at Highways Performance Space.

She recently founded RebollarDance in NYC as a collective ensemble where artists of various genres can collaborate to make innovative work. Erica Rebollar is a choreographer, dancer, performer, improviser, teacher, and certified personal trainer. Her recent work has been described by the LA Times as “thrilling”, “a severe but arresting solo incorporating martial arts and suggesting a quest for both transcendence and self-control.” She is a nominee of three Lester Horton Awards in dance and choreography for her works “Hunter/Hunted” and “The Lights From the Heavens are Called Stars”. A recipient of Mabou Mines artist residency, she is currently dancing in NYC dance festivals: Dance Conversations at the Flea Theatre, d.u.m.b.o Dance Festival, and Catch series. In December, she will perform at Joyce Soho Theatre with Trip Dance Collective, and is planning her own self-produced show at St. Marks in September of 2006.
