Erica Rebollar was born in Madrid, began studies at the Washington School of Ballet, and completed her MFA in choreography at UCLA. Erica danced with various companies and toured internationally. She produced her first show in Seattle in 1999, and BYU later commissioned the choreography. Erica was a three time Lester Horton Award nominee for performance and choreography in Los Angeles, where she produced several evenings of work. In New York City, Erica received artistic residency through Mabou Mines Suites, showing full-length works at PS 122 and St. Mark's Church. She was the recipient of an award at Joyce Soho’s A.W.A.R.D show, and performed in various dance festivals at Judson Church, DTW, TPAC, and the Flea. Upon moving back to DC, Erica performed her choreography at Velocity Dance Festival /Harman Hall and Joy of Motion’s Dance Project. She received Kennedy Center’s Local Dance Commissioning Project grant, with evening-length performances on the Millennium Stage, Dance Place, Roundhouse Theatre, and Theatre Project/Baltimore. Erica Rebollar/Rebollar Dance was made a “Top Pick” of Washington City Paper’s Fall Arts Guide, highlighted in “Most Memorable Dance Performances of 2011”, and nominated for a Metro DC Dance Award in “Outstanding New Work”. Recently, Erica Rebollar/Rebollar Dance received Fairfax County’s Strauss Fellowship and a Creative Capital Fund to promote work at American Dance Institute’s Incubator Residency Program and the Mead Theatre Lab/Flashpoint Residency, to be shown at the Strathmore. Erica continues to focus attention on the collaborative, where where multi-genre artists can make innovative work.
